This is a set of 2 wall tiles depicting scenes of the town in which I live. I wanted to use well known local landmarks, seen from a slightly unusual angle. The images juxtapose abstract and real elements and they were very enjoyable to develop using prints and patterns. (Both things that I love.)
The tiles are made from earthenware clay and fired multiple times with underglaze prints. A layer of transparent glaze heightens the colours and patterns. The final layer is a gold lustre firing where hot air balloons and birds join the landscape.
The tiles can be presented in multiple ways, including in a frame of your choosing or by adding hooks to the back. The tiles are mailed gift wrapped and in a box.
If you would like to commission an image of your own choosing, please get in touch for how that could happen!
